Kristin (Grand Rapids Boudoir Photographer)

January 28, 2012

Kristin came to my rescue as my "test subject" the night before the marathon. My previous marathon was held at a very bright and open hotel room in the JW Marriott. But our room at City Flats this time around definitely did not have the same lighting. Kristin helped out by being my subject while I tested out some flash techniques. I am only going to post a couple, but she rocked it, either way!

^Pretty smile!

^Definitely my favorite!

^Oh yeah, awesome!

Brand New Website

February 29, 2012

A little known fact about Jenna Rose Photography... our birthday is today! Although I've been doing wedding and portrait photography for almost six years now, the day I "officially" made JRPhoto a legal business entity was February 29, 2008... which means today we are celebrating our very FIRST birthday today! Ahh, Leap Day, how novel you are!

In honor of our very first birthday, we are celebrating with the launch of our brand new website. It is now mobile-friendly and is LOADED with all the newest images. Most of them are from this past year, with a few others thrown in for good measure. If you want to take a look (and you should!), check it out by clicking the image below!

Karie (Grand Rapids Boudoir Photographer)

January 28, 2012

It's boudoir week on the blog. This is the second year in a row that I put on a winter boudoir marathon. This year, we chose the awesome City Flats Hotel in downtown Grand Rapids as the boudoir backdrop. It was a successful, fun, and gorgeous photo shoot, and I want to thank everyone who participated!

First, we have the absolutely gorgeous Karie. Her make-up and hair (done by Gentry Peterson) made her look just fabulous, and she was an amazing model to work with. She came with some great ideas, a great look (she is totally rocking that bright red lipstick!), and we got some great images. She's recently engaged, so you might just be seeing more of her in the near future! But for now, enjoy her gorgeous images from the boudoir marathon.

^Such an awesome and different shot!

^Sassy eyes!

^Repping her fiance's favorite team.

Bill + Alicia: Engaged (Grand Rapids Wedding Photographer)

February 12, 2012

When Alicia told me during her last photo session that Bill was going to propose in the near future, I was just so excited! Even though I was just waiting for it, I was still giddy when I heard the news for sure. Since then, Alicia and I have been text buddies, going back and forth about all sorts of wedding stuff. They have already chosen their date (August 25, 2012) and venue (Comfort Suites Lakeside in Houghton Lake), and of course, their photographer... me! We got them down to Grand Rapids last weekend to do their engagement photos. Though I was really hoping to make it out to Grand Haven, we had a good time touring downtown GR and finding all sorts of cool spots for photos.

Bill and I went to school together. I work with a lot of old friends and acquaintences from my hometown, so no surprise. I've known his since way back in middle school! I'm happy to see him find such a cool girl to walk down the aisle with. Alicia and I met last year when I did his Aunt Candi's wedding photos, and again for some family photos we did later on that summer. She also came to visit me recently for another photo session I have yet to blog about (stay tuned!), so we're pretty bunch old pals now. She's a gorgeous girl, and I suppose Bill is a pretty good looking guy as well, so I am just thrilled to get to be a part of their wedding.

Congrats Alicia (Cali ;) and Billy, we'll see you again soon!

^The city of Grand Rapids is going to redo the historic Sixth Street Bridge this year, so I wanted to get out to it before it was too late. Good timing!

 ^So cute!

^A view of downtown Grand Rapids.

^Showing off the local skyline.

^Love this! Nose-to-nose is my new favorite pose.

^Finally, some shade.

^Big smiles!

^"C'mere, handsome!"

^Haha, cute. Love the boots, by the way!

^Almost looks like they are walking down the aisle already!

^The side door at Saint Mark's was a perfect little shaded corner to do a few photos.

^Love these two! Can't wait until their wedding at the end of August!
