Couple Session: Leo & Kellee (Grand Rapids Portrait Photography)

March 12, 2016

Not surprisingly, I have been and always will be a proponent of getting your photos professionally taken often. Though I myself have the ability to take professional photos of my daughter and family, there's something great about getting a chance to be in front of the camera as well, and seeing yourself from someone else's professional point of view. Leo summed it up perfectly, say that having nice photos to share with your future grandkids is a good thing to do on occasion. Yes! Your family will love seeing your "back in the day" even in a world where everyone has a camera with them 24/7. There's just some thing special about getting a few shots of you from someone who actually knows what they are doing, every so often, anyway!

Leo and Kellee were married back in 2012, in an evening ceremony at Castle Farms in Charlevoix. That was a big wedding weekend for me, and, as always, it was a pleasure getting to reminisce with a couple that I haven't seen in quite awhile. These two are doing great, looking good, and enjoying life. I sincerely hope I get to see them again in a few more years! Check out their couple session from a few weeks back.

^Finding a good location that isn't urban this time of the year can be challenging but this old go-to of mine did the trick.

^Playing with foreground focus :)

^Favorite!

^So in love, still! :)

^Real laughs are the best.

^Or maybe these are my favorites...

^Looking good, you two!

^Come back soon, Leo and Kellee!

Chris & Amber: Getting Married! (Grand Rapids Wedding Photographer)

February 21, 2016

Apparently, I hit the client jackpot for September. As with my last post, these two are an awesome couple and I'm so excited to work with them on their wedding. First of all, we met for their engagement session at Brewery Vivant (a place with special meaning to the two of them, and great beer!) and got some great shots there. It was a gorgeous, warm day for February and despite hoping for snow, we had a great time wandering around Eastown and finding cute little spots to photograph. They even put up with my craziness when I thought we just HAD to drive over toward Electric Cheetah for a few shots.

Amber is another one of my brides this year who I photographed at their sister's wedding in the past. I can't wait to work with her and Chris again in September. Oh and we're hoping to head back to Brewery Vivant for their wedding photos. So yay!

^Great light in here, no?

^We were the only people in there (well almost) so they were kind enough to let us get this shot :)

^Adorable.

^I can't tell you enough how cute these two are.

^You can find a lot of great spots just wandering around sometimes!

^Worth it? Yeah, I guess so!

^Chris bought us a couple macrons after we took these shots ;)

^More in another 6 months, yay!

Nate & Stephanie: Getting Married! (Grand Rapids Wedding Photographer)

February 14, 2016

How better to celebrate the warmest day of the year so far with a photo shoot from one of the coldest? I'm usually a little more timely with these things but what can you do? Today, we're featuring the first of my September couples, Nate and Stephanie, who were the BEST and braved a 20 degree day for their engagement session. I honestly don't know how we didn't freeze, but we were still able to get a great set of photos of the two of them. They only look cold in a few of them ;)

I'm so looking forward to working with these two this summer. They are a fun loving couple and I've met Stephanie's family, as I did her sister's wedding forever ago! Thanks again, guys, for toughing out that chilly February day with me.

^Snow ;)

^The steam made the shot that much better!

^Trying to stay cozy.

^The sun IS out! And it's not helping much ;)

^I love ivy! Even when it's not growing quite yet.

^Just a couple Will Farrell inspired silly shots to finish the session with. Cheers!
