VOTE: August Photo Contest

I'm heading out of town for the holiday weekend, but that doesn't mean that I won't be working! I'm going down to Florida to visit friends and do some maternity photos. Haven't done many yet, but they are so much fun, and cute! Keep an eye out for those in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, I need you all to go to my facebook page and vote in the August Photo Contest! Nine contestants from the end of July to the end of August are competing to win a free 11x14 print. So head over to facebook now, "Like" Jenna Rose Photography if you haven't already and vote for your favorites of the photos below! (Each person gets 3 votes, but must vote for different photos. Write "vote" or something in the comment box under your choices!)

Taylor: Senior Portraits

August 20, 2010

It's so awesome to see someone you've known since they were a baby all grown up... and that's exactly what Miss Taylor here is... all grown up! I remember when Taylor was just a little baby, and she's come a long way from those days. Wow, doesn't that make ME feel old. Anyway, Taylor is my Aunt Mary and Uncle Larry's granddaughter, and she'll be graduating in 2011. I was very excited when Aunt Mary called and asked if I'd be interested in shooting her senior photos. Of course I would, it was my first senior session of the season... And lucky for me, Taylor is such a pretty girl and since my Aunt Mary has been taking photos of her throughout her entire life, she knew a thing or two about posing for the camera.

As most of my business tends to be more wedding oriented, I do get to do a lot of senior photos. And it's very sad becasue I love them so much! It's fun to get in front of the camera (I remember, I was a senior once too ;) so they tend to make it easy to get great photos of them. Taylor was no exception of course and these are some of my favorite shots ever!

So here's a big congrats to Taylor, the first senior rep of JRPhoto of the season. Thanks for representing the Harrison High School class of 2011.

^What a great model!

^I love these close ups with her eyes.

^Taylor found my necklace and earrings in the back of the car,
and they matched perfectly with her dress!

^Such a perfect spot. Who needs their own studio?

^It was not tricky finding awesome backgrounds at the Riverwalk.

^Yay for the hairlight!

^Taylor had her concert T-shirt to spice up the regular portraits.

^The perspective on this one makes it look like an album cover,
kind of cool, yes?

Nate & Katie: a Wedding

August 14, 2010

I met Katie about 5 years ago when my younger sister started her freshman year at Grand Valley. She and Katie lived in the same dorm, and they were fast friends. I hung out with Katie when she lived in the same apartment as my sister, when she and Nate had their BEAUTIFUL daughter, Madison, and in the past year, she and I love to get together and do dinner or take Madi to the park to play.

Of course it was exciting when I heard she and Nate were engaged. They've been together for years and its always fun when everything comes around full circle. Katie asked me to do her wedding and I was uber excited to do it. I was even more excited about three weeks ago when Katie and I met up for dinner and she suggested we might go to Mackinaw to do photos... YES PLEASE!

The Kristins (Oole and Thome... although Thome is now Mrs. Huyck!) agreed to come along for the ride with me as my assistance. Oole (who is also my roomie and occasional model) has never been a photographer (except when we are hanging out and I pass her mine to snap a photo of me evrey now and then) but she did a great job throughout the whole day.

Katie looked so pretty! A beautiful bride, so obviously Nate is a lucky man. We had a hot and humid day to work with but the rain from the morning burned off in time for us to get some awesome shots of the bridge. Best wishes to Nate and Katie, and hopefully I'll get to go play with Katie and Madi in the park again soon!

^Mama and Madi, with their pretty hair done!

^Isn't she just stunning? I LOVE this photo.

^Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Cheybogan was a beautiful place for a wedding.

^ Amazing shot of the Mackinaw Bridge by Miss Oole.

^The girls do a little vamping for the camera ;-)

^And I'll say it a hundred more times... I LOVE THE COLOR!!!

^I really hope Katie decided to do a trash the dress... the camera loves her!

^Bridal party stampede!!!!

^And a beautiful aged shot is perfect to wrap up the portrait session.

^The decorations on this cake were awesome.

^Daddy/daughter dances are always so happy!

^Love this one from Thome, they look so grown up... and still so cute!

And of course, its always fun to see even more photos by checking out Nate & Katie's fast and fun video!
