Parker Family Photos

November 22, 2009

Just as I realized this summer when I did the portrait session for Josh and Julie, even a small break from photography makes me really anxious to get back into it... how am I going to survive the winter??? Anyway, this weekend I had the pleasure (and the anxiety :) of photographing my boss from my "regular job" at Dooge Veneers and his family in their hometown of Rockford.

I've been to downtown Rockford a time or two :) and I have to say that the area surrounding the dam at Rogue River is very beautiful... even in late November when the colors have all hibernated for the winter! Gary, his wife Kristin, and his lovely daughters, Paige and Megan, followed me around for an hour as we took lots of photos of them all, finding interesting locations. It was a beautiful day (almost too beautiful without a cloud in the sky... come on photographers, you know how THAT goes!) with lots of light and 50+ degree weather. In November??? That's Michigan for you.

Anyway, it was a pleasure working with the Parkers, even with the family dogs, Samson and Sally, who were almost too excited for photos! Thanks guys for getting me back in Photo Girl mode, I hope you enjoy your photos!

New Designs for 2010

Hello everyone! I was excited yesterday because I took some time to redesign all of my JRPhoto logos and headlines. There are new price sheets (and packages!), business cards, watermarks, a new graphic, and even a brand new "slogan" that I found hiding in my very own artist statement! I recently redesigned my website so this kind of goes along with all of that.

Below I am posting my new business cards to give you a taste of what I was up to. My new "colors" are going to be the pale green and a little splash of my traditional red. I know most of you aren't too terribly interested in all of that, but it's kind of fun to get things ready for the new year. I guess I'm ready for the next photo season after all!

The first is the front of the card, the second is the back. Enjoy!

Halloween Party

October 30, 2009

For the third year in a row, my roommate Kristin and I had a Halloween party. Although they aren't always SUPER exciting, the guests always make a great effort and do a great job with the costumes. Honoring that, we always set up a photo "studio" to get some serious photos of the lovely job everyone does in dressing up. Take a look at some of our costumes from this year's party!

Dan and Donna Kendall (Kristin's mom and stepdad) are a wicked pair!

Myself as a Southern Belle (from Tennessee of COURSE!)

Here's my dear friend, Alan Gedney, who's costume (McReady from "The Thing") was slightly ruined by his props being left in his car on the way to the party. We know it would have been great, Alan!

Thome always has a great costume! This is the second time I've photographed her in the cape!

This year's movie choice for my roommate, Kristin Oole, was "Star Trek" so here she is as Uhura.

Kristin and her baby, Max (who gets FAR too excited for pictures...)

A little Star Wars action: my friend and assistant Josh Harrison and his girlfriend, Julie DeBoer as a Sith Lord and Ventress

Jeremy and Kristin Huyck make a mismatched couple, don't they?

My good friend, Angie Moe, is a beautiful zombie bride!

I love it when someone takes the costume seriously! Josh Moe is a very convincing zombie!

...and because boys will be boys, especially when there are lightsabers involved... Josh and Brian (as Rorschach from "The Watchmen") duke it out in the photo studio

More of Joe and Trisha!

October 16, 2009

Due to my super-busy October, it took me an extra week to finish up Joe and Trisha's reception photos. But finish them I have and in case you were very bummed out not to get to see any in the last blog post on their wedding... take a look!
