My Sister is Getting Married! (Grand Rapids Wedding Photographer)

November 3, 2019

What am I thankful for this Thanksgiving? That my sister found an awesome guy to marry, and that they are tying the knot in less than a year! They also are letting me do all the planning so that's a bonus, because I'm kind of crazy and I love doing that sort of thing.

We are all super excited to do a destination wedding, and I can't wait to see how everything turns out. But more importantly, I'm super thrilled that these two awesome people found each other. Just like their session, I'll keep this short and sweet... on with the photos!

^Colors!!! Hopefully their wedding looks like this too!

^LOVE :D

Mike & Sam: Engaged! (West Michigan Wedding Photographer)

October 20, 2019

When you think of a fall engagement session, you are rarely picturing photos on the beach. But the day we chose for Sam and Mike's photos was just TOO beautiful to stay away from Lake Michigan. While we took a few awesome photos in the woods (including Mike's gorgeous daughters as well!), we made our way through the trails at Rosy Mount Natural Area to land right on the shores of the big lake. Some of my favorite shots came from there so I'm glad we did it.

Mike and Sam are a refreshing and fun couple, and having known Sam for a few years, I expected no less. They enjoyed their session and I definitely did too. Next year, they will be getting married and I will be there with bells on! Congrats to the both of you!

^So happy!

Dylan & Laura: An October Wedding (West Michigan Wedding Photographer)

October 5, 2019

I always get excited when it's FINALLY time to share a new wedding. I've been sitting on this one for a bit, but I like to at least try to keep things in order... either way, it's finally time!

Dylan and Laura's wedding was a smaller one for me. Because I photographed it by myself, I was worried I'd be running, busy all day, but there was no need for concern. Our relaxed schedule gave me a lot of time to play with a few things I've been wanting to do, such a lay-flat designing for their paper goods as well as off camera flash at the reception. And there was SO much gorgeousness to see. The wedding was held at Dylan's family's property, and though there was a barn there, Laura wanted to make sure it was NOT a barn wedding. She chose metallics and geometric shapes to accent their wedding style. The men looked sharp in their suits and the dresses were to die for!

After the first look (make sure you find the look on Dylan's face right after he saw Laura!) and portraits, these two tied the knot and headed off to the reception at Baker Lofts in Holland. They chose the new upstairs venue that Baker Events offers and it was a really beautiful, understated location. Exposed brick and a real urban chic feel was the vibe they created. It made for an exceptional evening, especially to photograph!

Oh and I should mention that dinner was phenomenal, too. ;) Congrats Dylan and Laura, it was a pleasure to work with the both of you and your family and friends. So many amazing images, I'm so glad I finally get to share them!
