Jeff & Mary: A Downtown Wedding (Grand Rapids Wedding Photographer

July 25, 2015

There were a lot of HOT weekends this July. Jeff and Mary were "blessed" with one of these. Though a strong breeze was blowing, we found ourselves in downtown Grand Rapids for most of our photos, so it didn't help a whole lot. Not to mention the good old sun had come out to show us what it really meant to sweat! However, these two, and their wedding party, were great sports and we had a great day wandering through downtown Grand Rapids on their wedding day.

But I digress. Jeff and Mary were married in the church that quite a few of Jeff's family members were married in. Sort of. The church burned down just a few years ago, so this is version 2.0. Anyway, it's gorgeous, well lit (yay!) and a great location for a wedding. After they were official and the obligatory family photos were taken, we hit the road for drinks and photos. And all the heat. Lots of smiles though, so no worries at all.

The reception started out with a bang with a broken elevator and delayed dinner but we made it through. Their family and friends were amazing people to work with I had a blast at the top of McFadden's with all the rest. Thanks to Mary and Jeff for showing me a good time on a VERY hot day in Grand Rapids! Now it's time for some photos!

^Gorgeous!

^As I said, such a pretty church.

^Jeff's daughter made a lovely flower girl. She was great!

^What a proud dad!

^Kisses for this little lady.

^Mary, you look amazing.

^LOVE!

^Jess took these shots so I'm not POSITIVE of what's going on here, but it's still pretty great.

^Oh yes. Amway Grand magic.

^I've got to thank our bus driver for this location. So fun!

^YES!

^Boys will be boys.

^Pensive, no?

^These have got to be my favorite group shots of the day! A tight alley can't beat the walk shot.

^Everyone who shoots downtown gets the blue bridge. We chose a less cliche angle :)

^Love the handmade coasters. Artsy!

^Now THAT'S a modern cake. Love it!

^Our sweet second flower girl wasn't feeling well so she missed the wedding. But she made it to the reception!

^To get the bride and groom to kiss, they needed someone to imitate. Yep.

^Favorite.

^Jeff 's brother in law stayed home with his sick daughter/flower girl but they were happy he also made the reception.

^Another fave :)

^Tears! So sweet.
