FREE Destination Weddings
A local photographer who's blog and facebook page I follow turned me on to this idea. I've always been a fan of getting to travel, but in today's world, sometimes it just isn't practical for me to do. So in honor of the cold weather coming along and because it's been almost a year since my Hawaii trip...
Destination Wedding Package
Full coverage of all wedding events while on location
High-resolution disc with all images and copyright
DVD wedding slideshow
Online review for up to 4 months
$100 print credit OR mini-album
Trash the Dress or Afterglow session
50% off engagement session back at home
Cost: FREE
The only cost you pay to book a free destination wedding package is my travel, accomodations, meals, and any added expenses (such as rental car or location fees). So basically, I'm just another guest, but one who gives you some amazing images in return for my being there!
I plan on booking up to five of these free weddings per year. You can book any month of the year, however June through October weddings must book three to four months in advanced. For the rest of the year, please allow two to three months in advanced so travel arrangements can be made.
A destination wedding will be defined as any wedding outside of Michigan or outside of the couple's home state. We can discuss the details further when you inquire... So if you are interested, PLEASE give me a call or email me today! I'm so excited about this idea, and would just LOVE to escape the winter this year, so let's go somewhere warm!!!

Billy & Shannon: A Wedding
October 8, 2010
Shannon is a beauty! I knew it the moment I met her, which was last December when I shot engagement photos for her and her fiance, Billy. They were great sports, especially in the freezing temperatures, and I was happy with all the great photos we got. So as you can imagine, when I found out that not only was it going to be a beautiful day but that Shannon had an "old Hollywood" theme planned, with the awesome combo of black and white with red accents, I was pretty much giddy.
Jess and I hit the road early to be in the Detroit area on time. I do a lot of traveling for weddings, but this year is the first time I've done this many on the east side! Makes for some late nights, but I'm not sorry for this one at all! Jessica and her girls were getting ready, and looking gorgeous! After the beautiful Catholic ceremony at Saint Veronica's Catholic Church in Eastpoint, we got to take some awesome shots. I loved the red parasols the girls used too, they were a great touch! Some of my very favorite shots of the night.
The light was leaving us but we managed to get some cute ones of Billy and Shannon before the reception... and what a reception it was! Everyone was having an amazing time from the beginning, and FINALLY we had a group that was actually into the garter and bouquet toss. These people were diving for them, it was awesome (check out the end of the post for the photos!).
Anyway, I had a wonderful time working with you, Billy and Shannon. I hope your life together is as fabulous as your wedding! Congratulations!

Apple Love
Favors by Kristin Huyck, apple artist

Every now and then, I come across a wedding idea that is really unique and wonder "Why hasn't someone thought of this before???" The latest find is an amazing favor by a friend and photography assistant of mine, Kristin Huyck. Kristin grew up on her father's apple orchard, so she knows a thing or two about the fruity treat. Imagine her surprise when she realized you could imprint shapes on her apples! How you ask? It's a secret! You'll have to talk to Kristin about that!
Last year, Kristin married her husband, Jeremy, and used these pretty apples as favors for her own wedding, so she thought, why not give other people this creative touch for their wedding favors? Kristin has been experimenting with this process for 10 years now, and now that she has learned a lot about these imprints (which are all natural, by the way!), she's ready to share them with the world.
Being that apples ripen up only for the September and October months, these favors are, at least for now, strictly for fall weddings. But apples are a great sign of the season, and since it's such a popular time for weddings, it works out great here in Michigan! The variety available so far are the Gala apples for September weddings and Fujis for October. The photos you will see below are the Fuji variety and the imprinting produces the rich orange color. Galas imprint in a lighter, yellower tone. The photos show hearts below, but Kristin also offers a personalized letter as well.
Another great touch is, although you may purchase just the apples, she also has a cute little packaging option for each apple! It really gives the favor a great touch and looks beautiful on your wedding tables! If anyone is interested, feel free to contact me, or Kristin directly be emailing her at kristin.huyck@gmail.com. Tell her you are looking for some Apple Love!
