Ryan & Heather: An Unconventional Wedding (Grand Rapids Wedding Photographer)

September 12, 2015

The world was determined to keep Ryan and Heather's wedding from happening. Surgeries, family loss, venue changes. Just about everything that could go wrong was going wrong. I tried from the start to help where I could, but things were looking bleak. However, the week before the date they had chose (and a date with significance, so they were hoping not to lose it!), somehow, someway, their small ceremony came together at a park in the Grand Rapids area. Against all odds. What a sweet little ceremony it was. And after everything it took to get to that point, it was that much sweet. Ryan and Heather's day was perfect!

Because of venue change and uncertainty, Ryan, Heather, and I decided that since they weren't do a regular wedding reception, we would save their portraits for the following Monday. In an epic, two location session on the most beautiful day possible, some of my favorite wedding images of the season were born! Heather and Ryan got dressed up in their wedding finest (again) and we went to both the Bay Pointe Inn on Gun Lake and at the Felt Mansion in Holland. Two perfectly beautiful locations and so much time to photograph. EVERYONE should get married this way.

Anyway, I can't thank Ryan and Heather enough for doing this wedding session with me when the traditional wedding package wasn't quite going to work. I think it worked out wonderfully for us all! I love these images so much, so check them out now... first the wedding...

Part One

^Decor from their FIRST date, which was last year and I couldn't help with. Glad they waited!

^Dad sees the bride for the first time.

^Heather's mom got her good friend and singer, Rebecca Henry, to sing her "down the aisle" song. She didn't know that it was her singing until this moment!

^The officiant had a lot for Ryan to repeat :)

^Against all odds.

^Heather's nephew, Marshall.

^Even though we were going to do the portraits that Monday, it was great to get the couple with at least some of their bridal party.

^Siblings :)

^Haha, boys.

^Just one on the day of ;)

Part Two

^Our first stop is the gorgeous Bay Point Inn!

^The boathouse is perfect!

^Ryan accidentally left his jacket in his car. This way we got to see the suspenders, at least!

^Favorites!

^What a perfect day!

^Second stop, the Felt Estate in Holland.

^LOVE this one.

^I bought the flowers that morning and Heather helped me assemble her bouquet before her hair and make-up session.

^Those eyes. That look. Perfect.

^Daring ;)

^Just a few serious looks.

^Wow, they're awesome.

^Last stop at the Carriage House for a few more.

^The perfect end to a perfect day!
