Jon & Emily: An Engagement

March 4, 2011

I first met Jon and Emily a few days before Christmas. They had found me online and were in town and wanted to meet me. We had a great time chatting and looking at various options. They are a great couple and I was thrilled when they chose me for their wedding photography!

Though they are originally from the Kalamazoo area, they currently live way out of town in Baltimore. They are planning their Michigan wedding from hundreds of miles away! Because of this, they could only do their engagement session when they were going to be in town for the weekend (one of the last weekends before the wedding, even though it's in August). So even though the weather was wet and chilly, March 4 was the date.

We started at the studio. Jon was TOTALLY into the photo mood. He's quite a character! Emily tried to reign him in, but it was no use. But we all had a great time either way, so it all worked out. After the studio, we headed down to the Grand Rapids Public Museum to get a few shots on the caroursel. Even though two rides around made all of us a little dizzy, we got some great shots.

I am VERY much looking forward to doing Jon and Emily's wedding at the end of August. They are two awesome people, with a sense of humor, and they are pretty darn cute too! Good luck with the rest of the out-of-town planning, and I will see you guys again soon!

^They are such an adorable couple. Love it!

^The lovely Miss Emily.

^Jon probably said something amusing here!

^They liked these chairs best (although Jon was interested in the tiny rocking horse too, haha).

^Sometimes a beanbag chair can be VERY serious :-)

^A bit of a break in the rain gave us time for a few quick shots outside of the museum.

^Time for the carousel shots!

^It's fun how they keep changing height as the horses go up and down.

^The carousel operator gave us extra time so we could get all the perfect shots!

^This illustrates how I was feeling by the time we started our second ride...

^These two have talent; kissing on two moving horses is NOT easy!

^Jon looks fierce on his warrior horse!

^A requested wall shot, and one of my favorites of course!
