Before they see the gown, the flowers, the decorations, the party, your guests see your invitations! Why not do it with a little flash and flare? There are tons of places to get your stationary, but I personally prefer some specially made, just for you! That's where my friend (and sometimes assistant!) Kristin Huyck comes in. She is a graphic designer who knows a thing or two about design. She even created my logo, so you know I trust her work! There is something about having someone talk to you about what you are looking for and then making it happen, or helping you find the inspiration you need to get something beautiful and totally you!
I personally love it when a couple has a graphic or a logo made. Whether it includes their name or is just some fun or fancy design, it's an added touch that you can use and carry through the entire wedding process. From save the dates or invites, to your favors and place cards, to your Thank You cards long after the party has ended.
Kristin creates these beautiful designs in the colors the couple is looking for, and then adds a little flair by layering the invites in different way. You can see in this example to the right, the floral pattern in pink and black fills the empty space and spices up the whole design. This detail can be carried throughout all the stationary invovled in the wedding.
Another amazing option is going for a little flair by adding some sort of texture and layer to the design. For her own wedding invites (left), Kristin chose to close the invite itself with twine, which added both texture and dimension to the invite itself. Inside, you see all the additional information used by the guests, including registry info, maps to the reception, the RSVP card, and more. Each is layered to fit perfectly behind the next. A multi-dimensional invite really shows your style, theme and attention to detail!
