In year's past, I've always had a good chunk of weddings from back in the mid Michigan area, where I'm from. However, this year, there was only this one. And I've never met Shawn and Jesica, until the day of their wedding. You never know what to expect with a couple until you meet them, so it's a little frazzling to not have any idea what you are getting into. However, I had been chatting back and forth with Shawn's mom, Tammy, for quite a few months now, so I knew she had everything under control.
And I was pleasantly surprised. The bride and groom were both very easy going and fun. In fact, they were having a blast as we did their portraits post-ceremony. We trekked from Coleman, where the ceremony was held, to Gladwin, which is, as you may remember, where I have quite a bit of family. We went to my Aunt Charlotte's house to do photos by the river. Shawn was being silly, and Jesica kept telling him they weren't going to have any good photos of them because he was being such a goof. But, I was pleasantly surprised to find that all his silliness created some photos with some great character, and there are tons of great ones!
The reception was held in Gladwin, at the Sage Township Hall, a place I've actually shot at before. It was decorated beautifully, and I was crazy about the cake! Shawn and Jesica are a very outdoorsy couple, and they had the coolest cake design. It was decorated like birch logs! Robaire's in Mount Pleasant did an amazing job.
It was a beautiful day and a wonderful wedding. I was very happy to be a part of it! Congratulations to Shawn and Jesica!
^These guys were crazy! But very well behaved considering! Thanks to Kristin Oole for this fun shot.
^Shawn said he wasn't used to having his photo taken like this,
thus he was laughing throughout his portrait session!
^A very handsome groom.
^And a beautiful bride! Jesica is gorgeous, don't you agree?
^The ladies know how to have a good time too.
^I always love it when the wind cooperates.
^The whole crazy wedding party!
^Shawn "looking off into the distance". So wonderfully dramatic!
^So glad we used the birch trees, it went great with reception theme.
^The leaves were no longer on the trees, so we got down in them!
^These two are so cute, and they were having a great time together. Love it.
^I love charactures, so of course I think this is just awesome!
^The birch tree cake, complete with carved in initials.
^Another good one of the bride and groom by Oole.
