Mike & Hollie: A Wedding

August 7, 2010

The Grand Volute Ballroom is a beautiful place for a wedding in West Michigan. I'll be honest, there's not a lot of outdoor landscaping available, but Fallasburg Park was more than perfect and just down the road. So we set the scene for the BEAUTIFUL Hollie and her adoring fiance, Mike's wedding last weekend.

Hollie's from back in Harrison, my old hometown stomping ground (wow, rhyming is cheesey... I didn't mean it!) so I've known her and a lot of her bridesmaids since back in the day. It was great catching up with them back in Grand Rapids where they got ready. I always love working with people I know, a great relaxed environment. And not to mention, Hollie was determined to be cool and collected on her wedding day, and she looked so amazing! Mission accomplished!

Jess Furrow assisted as a last minute fill in, and we got some great shots. As I said, the Grand Volute is beautiful and had wonderful lighting to work with. That would explain why we took so many photos! A great reception, a super fun wedding party (man those guys were crazy!), and some AMAZING food makes for quite a wedding.

Hollie and Mike are on their honeymoon in Mexico, but I can't wait for them to get back and check out their photos. Congratulations you two!

^Grandma's necklace. A perfect touch!

^The best man said "PYRAMID!" and not two seonds later...

^Hollie's dad stood on the other end of the covered bridge to make sure no one ran us over.

^One of my favorites, isn't she just stunning?

^Not sure how I made it out of the session with these guys  ;-)
^This is what my friend Misty would call Mike's "GQ pose"

^Mike's ring wouldn't go on... Hollie found that unacceptable :-)

^Great overall view by Jess Furrow.

^How amazing is this place?

^Would have been a beautiful day for an outdoor wedding,
but I still love that staircase!

^Oh how I love it when the sky cooperates.

^Great shot by Jess Furrow.

^Love it when I catch some flash, so cool!

^Michelle fills in for the junior bridesmaid who didn't know
the requirements of catching the bouquet.

^Bit off more than she could chew, love her face here! Thanks Michelle!

Wedding Teaser

Mike & Hollie

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of photographing the weddig of an amazing couple, Mike and Hollie. It was a beautiful (and thankfully not humid) day in Lowell and Hollie was such a beautiful bride (knew she would be ;). And Mike looked quite dashing himself! Anyway, this is just a mini-preview. I've still got lots of editing to do but here's a sneak peak to keep you on the edge of your seats! Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Hosford!!! Enjoy...

Stay tuned for more coming soon...

Chad & Amanda: An Engagement

July 31, 2010

Chad and Amanda were looking for a smalltown feel for their engagement photos. I suggested Rockford. The downtown area has an old-fashioned feel and is situated on the dam just over the Rogue River. These guys saw some photos I did in Rockford last year and were sold. Drove up 2 hours just to do their photos there!

We took tons of photos, and these two were great to work with! Very easy-going and although they probably wouldn't say it, they had a knack to having their photo taken. We wandered around the dam, when through the side streets and back paths we found along the way, and ended up at the Custard by the Dam, where we each got a cone. It was tricky snapping photos while holding a quickly melting ice cream cone, but we got it done!

I'm already excited for Amanda and Chad's wedding next August. Their date is set for a year from this Friday (August 6, 2011) so see me again in about a year for more from these fun pair. And hopefully we've convinced them to do some sweet trash the dress photos in Chad's shop, where they do some classic car restoration. I'm hoping they still plan on that one, I'm in!

^I said "big cheesey smiles" but they gave me great ones instead. Love these two already!

^A view of the Rockford dam over the Rogue River.

^Knew I'd like this one right away.

^Time for an outfit change (thanks to the restroom at Dam Dogs :)

^This one is so cute :)

^We found this "Save the Date" in chalk, so we had to make use of it!

^Ice cream always brings out a little silliness!

^Mmmmmm, melty goodness!
