This session was a tricky one to navigate... I felt like a co-conspirator with Ben's mom, who was trying to organize not only the session for her son and his fiancé (who live and go to school in Indiana), but also the actual proposal! Though I wasn't present for that special moment (it took place in the same location the day before, surrounded by their families!), I did get to capture that newly-engaged glow Ben and Allison were giving off at Fredrick Meijer Gardens the next day.
Normally, shooting at FMG is tricky. They make you jump through a couple extra hoops for onsite photography, but these two loved the location so much, they made it happen! We did a few in the conservatory, surrounded by "blooming" butterflies (though the elusive things made it into basically NONE of my shots!) and then spent the rest of our time out in the gorgeously flowering Japanese Gardens. Absolutely PERFECT timing for the cherry blossoms!
Ben and Allison are absolutely adorable together, and they were great sports despite the weather having decided to turn down the thermostat 40 degrees from the day before. I'm so happy how these turned out and I'm so thankful Ben's mom and I were able to finally get the planets to align and make this beautiful shoot happen!
