Sarah & Samantha: An Old Mission Wedding (Northern Michigan Wedding Photographer)

August 10, 2024

Very little excites me more than getting the opportunity to drive up to Northern Michigan and see the gorgeous countryside that exists in the Traverse City area. Despite the wet weather that refused to quit all day, Sarah and Samantha's Old Mission wedding was a mix of beautiful colors, high notes, a few tears, and plenty of love, family and friendship.

Samantha and Sarah chose to make their love official at the Old Mission Congregational Church, a tiny and quaint church built back in 1891. The ladies fell in love with the timeless charm of the church and wanted it to be a part of their Northern Michigan wedding day.

After the ceremony, complete with a rainbow cannon finale in the rain, we grabbed a few photos at the Old Mission Peninsula Lighthouse before heading to Traverse City for dinner. Another favorite spot of Sarah and Samantha, the Boat House, had just enough room for everyone, and the food was absolutely delicious.

We ended the beautiful day with a schooner ride on the Manitou. We arrived at Tall Ships to more rain, but suddenly, the sky cleared, revealing an absolutely stunning rainbow and some serious sunshine —perfect timing for the boat ride through Grand Traverse Bay. We may have gotten a little wet a few times, but it didn't dampen the spirit of love and companionship that filled the day. After all, you can't have a rainbow without a little rain!

Congrats, Samantha and Sarah! Your day was beautiful in so many ways, and it was my honor to be a part of it!
