Trash the Dress, Part 1

Beach Day, July 10

It was a smokin' hot day in July, and Misty of Misty Minna Photography and I loaded up the car and headed to the beautiful Ottawa Beach in Holland, MI. We were officially starting our very first team-up session, six trash the dress ladies in two days!

The first fine lady we met was Rachael. Rachael was a bride of mine from last September when she married the fabulous Andy (check out their photos here!). Rachael has a beautiful dress, and  we made sure not to get it too messy (although we did have an incident with a seagull!) We started in the lovely area full of beach grass, and even though it was only 10am, it was heating up by the time we headed out onto the pier. Rachael's daughter, the other Jenna Rose, came along and helped us carry the sandals as we trekked across the sand.

^Love this one of Rachael! She knows how to work the camera!

^Beach day is sponsored by Picket Fence Floral.

^Just look at the sky!

^The beautiful veil was created by Misty's mom, Eileen of Eileen's Designs Etc. I'd say she's got a knack for it.

^ The ferry was passing by.

Our second lovely lady Cassie, one of Misty's former brides. She was married the previous August, so almost happy anniversary to you, Cassie! She's definitely a fun person, and she looked perfect for beach day. I loved the hair and the pretty little daisy that was actually from her wedding bouquet! Quite a nice touch. Her friend, Charlene, came to assist her with her dress and hang out. She and Cassie were great sports, even when we burned our feet on the scorching sand! They hung out at the beach after the photo session was done, good idea, ladies!

^Having a great time already! Love this shot.

^Doing Misty's "glam walk"

^Still can't believe this shot worked! Perfect!

^Getting her nerve up to get the dress wet.

^Cassie takes a flying leap!

Last but not least was the beautiful Meghan. She's one of Misty's friends from her GVSU days, almost two years married now, and donating her wedding dress to charity. For that reason, I'm glad it came out of the lake as nicely as it did! Meghan was definitely an adventurous former bride. We started up on the beach grass dune, and eventually made out way down to a little point of rocks at the side of the pier. Despite the busyness of the beach, people cleared off to let us do our photos and we got some amazing shots of Meghan going for a dip in Lake Michigan!

^Loving Meghan's wavy curls!

^Time to climb into the lake!

^We found this perfect "in the water" spot on our scouting trip.

^I'm so glad she was willing to do this, so many awesome shots.

Overall, beach day seemed to be a great success! Check back next week for day 2, park day in Holland with Sara, Melanie, and Liz!
