At the beginning of the summer, I made a connection with someone and was given the opportunity to photograph some breast cancer survivors at the Susan G Komen Grand Rapids survivor event in August. As part of that gathering (which was so much fun and inspiring, chatting with so many strong and brave women), I gave away a GLAM session. When Krysta won, she was thrilled. And we finally got to do her session in October.
Krysta was diagnosed with breast cancer and, as could be expected, was terrified. She already lives with spina bifida, which makes it harder for her to get around, and a cancer diagnosis was definitely not something she was expecting. However, they were able to treat it early on, and after a double mastectomy, she was cancer free fairly quickly. A six-year survivor, Krysta is a happy and beautiful soul and continues to live independently and be supportive local breast cancer causes all over West Michigan.
I'm so glad you got to do this session, Krysta. And I'm so happy to have met you!
